Description
Sweet and sour chicken made with crispy coated chicken pieces tossed in a perfectly balanced tangy and sweet sauce with pineapple and bell peppers. Better than takeout and easy to make at home.
Ingredients
1½ pounds boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into cubes
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 egg white
3 tablespoons cornstarch, divided
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
½ cup ketchup
3 tablespoons vinegar
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 small onion, cut into chunks
1 cup pineapple chunks
Oil for frying
Instructions
1. Whisk soy sauce, egg white, and 2 tablespoons cornstarch. Coat chicken and marinate for 20 minutes.
2. Lightly coat marinated chicken with remaining cornstarch.
3. Fry chicken for 5 to 6 minutes per batch until golden and cooked through.
4. Simmer ketchup, vinegar, sugar, and soy sauce for 3 to 4 minutes until thickened.
5. Add bell peppers, onion, and pineapple and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
6. Toss chicken with sauce and serve immediately.

Prep Time: 20 minutes.
Cook Time: 20 minutes.
Total Time: 40 minutes.
Do not overcrowd the pan when frying.
Adjust sweetness and acidity to taste.
