Description
A rich and creamy baked chicken dish featuring layers of golden mozzarella and parmesan, complemented by a garlic-infused dairy sauce. This Italian-American classic is decadent, comforting, and ideal for any occasion.
Ingredients
4 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (flattened)
5 garlic cloves (minced)
2 tbsp butter (unsalted)
1 cup heavy cream (240 ml)
1 cup grated parmesan cheese (freshly grated)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Salt and black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides
Butter a 9×13-inch baking dish or an oven-safe skillet
Arrange chicken in a single layer
In a small saucepan, melt butter on medium heat; add garlic and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant
Pour in heavy cream, bring to a gentle simmer
Season the garlic-cream sauce with salt and pepper, then stir in parmesan until melted and smooth
Spoon the sauce over the chicken evenly
Top with a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese
Place in the oven and bake for 40 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature reaches 165°F) and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown
Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving
Notes
Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter version
Buffalo mozzarella or provolone may be used in place of mozzarella
Freshly grated parmesan melts better than pre-grated versions
For a halal or non-dairy option, substitute butter with olive oil and heavy cream with non-dairy cream alternative
Serve with garlic bread, pasta, or a green salad for a complete meal
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days
