Description
Juicy, bone-in chicken thighs grilled to perfection and drenched in a tangy, sweet-hot honey BBQ sauce for a bold, smoky flavor. The perfect balance of heat and sweetness brings a fresh twist to classic American barbecue.
Ingredients
1.5 lbs chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
1/4 cup honey (ultrafiltered preferred)
1/2 cup smoky-flavored BBQ sauce
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp chili flakes (plus 1 tbsp extra for the sauce if extra spicy)
Instructions
Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels.
Whisk 1/4 cup honey with 1 tbsp chili flakes.
Massage honey-chili mixture into all surfaces of the chicken.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
Combine 1/2 cup BBQ sauce, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp chili flakes, and 1 tbsp honey in a bowl to create the basting sauce.
Preheat grill to medium-high (375°F).
Oil the grates with organic oil.
Place chicken thighs skin-side down and cook for 12 minutes.
Baste with 1/3 of the sauce immediately.
Flip thighs, baste the other side, and cook for 13 more minutes.
Optionally, continue basting during the last 3 minutes to prevent burning.
Notes
Use charcoal grill for a better crust if possible.
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving to keep it juicy.
Use an offset spatula to prevent tearing while flipping.
Ensure chicken thighs are evenly weighed for consistent cooking.
