A one-pan baked Chicken Parmesan with crispy chicken and melty mozzarella, offering a healthier twist on the classic. No frying required, just simple ingredients like seasoned chicken, tomato sauce, cheese, and breadcrumbs, all baked to perfection.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 tsp Italian seasoning
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 ½ cups tomato sauce
1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup grated Parmesan
1 tbsp olive oil
1 clove minced garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning
In a shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs. Dip each chicken breast in the mixture, pressing firmly to coat
Place chicken on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and minced garlic
Evenly spread ½ cup tomato sauce over each chicken breast
Top each with ¼ cup mozzarella cheese and sprinkle Parmesan over the top
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted and golden
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving
Notes
Use chicken thighs for juicier meat
Panko or gluten-free breadcrumbs work well
Swaps: mozzarella for provolone; Parmesan for nutritional yeast (vegan)
For extra crisp, broil for 2-3 minutes at the end
