Description
This golden-baked chicken Parmesan is a crispy, cheesy Italian-American favorite. Coated in breadcrumbs and Parmesan, topped with mozzarella and tangy marinara, it’s ready in 45 minutes and full of rich, satisfying flavor.
Ingredients
4 (6-oz) skinless chicken breasts, pounded for even thickness
1 cup grated Parmesan
1.5 cups plain breadcrumbs
2 cups marinara sauce
2 cups low-moisture mozzarella, shredded
2 large eggs
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
Lay out three shallow bowls for flour, egg mixture, and breadcrumbs. Keep chicken chilled until use.
Pat chicken dry, then dredge in flour. Shake off excess before dipping in egg. Press into breadcrumb-Parmesan mixture until fully coated.
Place coated chicken on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes to firm the coating without browning.
Spread ½ cup marinara over each chicken piece, then top with mozzarella and remaining marinara. Bake for 10 more minutes until cheese is bubbly and bread crumbs are golden.
Notes
Use two baking sheets to prevent uneven cooking.
Double-dip undercoated pieces for extra breading without messy overcoating.
Preheat oven for 15 minutes before starting to ensure even cooking.
